Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer unveiled Office 2013 today and as we might have predicted, it's all in the cloud.
Microsoft hasn't announced all of the details yet, but here are some Office 2013 highlights:
- Optimized for the soon-to-be-released Windows 8
- Your documents and settings roam with you, whether you're at your desk or on your mobile, with Office in the cloud
- View multiple email accounts, Facebook updates, and LinkedIn feeds all in one place with Outlook
- Get ongoing updates on specific documents, sites and people delivered to your activity feed and stay connected in real-time by chatting with co-workers right within Office
- Capture and organise all kinds of information in OneNote—notes, pictures, web pages, voice memos, and other media—and easily share them with others.
- Talk to anyone using Skype, including 60 minutes of free international calls every month to landlines in over 40 countries and to cell phones in 7 countries. (Skype account required. Excludes special, premium and non-geographic numbers.)
- Transform meetings with presenter view and high definition video conferencing.
Now we know what you're thinking, "What if I already have Office 365? Will I need to buy Office 2013 too or get to enjoy some of the new features?". The great news is that clients with Office 365 Enterprise get it all. Office 365 will be upgraded to the Office 2013 productivity suite as part of their existing Office 365 subscription.
We're still waiting to hear the exact launch date and more details, but we'll keep you posted.
